Spotlight on Art – 2011 Artists Market

My favorite Atlanta art event began yesterday, and continues through this week (January 31-February 5, 2011).  The 'Spotlight on Art' Artists Market is my ideal kind of place- thousands of paintings and works from hundreds of artists, all under one roof, in a very relaxed atmosphere. Virtually every genre is represented - contemporary art, pop art, impressionism, realism, sculpture, folk art, children's art. This year, over 350 artists are participating; there are many established gallery quality artists, as well as up and coming emerging artists. Plus, there is a wonderful jewelry area featuring unique pieces from some of the most talented jewelry designers in the Southeast.
I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek while the art was being set up, and there are some amazing pieces this year!

Fellow blogger Blayne Beacham’s work is part of the Contemporary Art section (one of her pieces in the dress series is seen at the top).

A beautiful panel in the Contemporary Art section.

The Children’s Area.

A dazzling array of jewelry from the Southeast’s top jewelry designers.

The Artists Market is well known for its outstanding selection of Folk Art.

More Folk Art (in the process of being set up – remember, this was a behind the scenes view when they were setting up for opening night!).

I found these sculptural pieces to be so interesting.

A beautiful array of art in the Impressionism Area (again, in the process of being set up – everything up and ready and available for sale now!).

The Artists Market is open daily through Saturday, February 5th.  There are so many wonderful artists, so many great pieces of art and jewelry; it is possibly the most inspirational place in town right now!  Everything seen in this post is available for sale (of course,  unless it has already sold), and more art is brought out every morning.

  1. Wish I lived closer. When i was just starting out, I had the hardest time finding reasonably priced art, so resorted to mass produced Chinese 'oil paintings'. How I wish I had access to an Art Market like the one featured in this post!

  2. I wish I could go... but don't think I can make it over in time. Think I am going to head that way for Scott's next week.

  3. Thank you so much holly!! I love the post, and I loved seeing you last night! Trinity week is my favorite week of the year :)

  4. Wow, loving those soft tones. I look for color trends in art, and it is looking like blues, oranges, greiges are prominent.

  5. So wish I lived closer...in the market for some beautiful art!

  6. So fun!!! I'd love to take a look at this place! So much inspiration!!!

Thanks for taking these pictures and sharing it with us. :-)

    Have a great day, sweetie!
