When Suzanne and I had a meeting one morning last fall, she had a strict schedule that day as she was heading over to a photo shoot of a house that she had styled entirely in products from Ballard Designs.
Check out the magnificent results (one of the rooms is pictured above), which are now on the Ballard Design website. House Beautiful interviewed Suzanne about the project, and the article includes dozens of great design tips and ways that everyone can bring beautiful design into their own homes. Suzanne's own collection for Ballard debuts in late July, and I can't wait to see it!
Suzanne Kasler Interiors now has a page on Facebook. Become a fan to get the latest updates! This is how I learned about the article.

Holly, this is one of those photos that makes me want to see the rest of the room, as you wrote about in a previous post. I will head over there and see if I can! Have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteHooray for Suzanne teaming up with Ballard! She's been a long time favorite and I'm so pleased for this more expanded, not to mention accessible line!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading her tips about how every room show have a 'wow' piece - lighting or a focal point. I also liked reading about her emphasis on layering - this is something I need desperate help with - I am hopeless at layering. There are so many great tips in this article, from recommendations on color schemes to scale.
ReplyDeleteI have always admired Suzanne Kasler's interiors. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteShe is so talented. How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is inspiring. It shows us that good design has its roots in great proportion and scale, and a skillful ability to 'layer' and the whole mix. Good design is not only for the rich and famous.
ReplyDeleteSo great, will check out her FB page next! My latest obsession are those garden armillary spheres. Hopefully, Ballard carries them.
ReplyDeleteI got my catalog yesterday and am still drooling over those photos. I love Suzanne's work!

This is interesting, and very smart of Ballard! Take a well known designer, and have her work magic with Ballard products. Part of the look is the product - and Ballard has some great affordable products. But a lot of the success is in the talent and eye putting it all together, and let's face it, not many people can hire Suzanne Kasler to decorate their house. It is smart and effective for Ballard to show a whole room, a whole house. I can see people calling them up and ordering every single thing in these pictures - are they going to be in the catalog?
ReplyDeleteSusan's work is always beautiful, but to team up with Ballard and show consumers that they can achieve a custom designed look at a lower end price, is just brilliant. Off to check out more! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLovely room!
ReplyDeleteAnd those really are fabulous bookcases. I use them for clients and they never disappoint.
Thank you so much for the tip! The interview with Suzanne is so nice and the pictures are woouuww! I so love her style (who don't?)! She is one of my favorite designers!

Receiving your post announcement email every week is as exciting as opening a present!! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteI agree totally with JeanetteS very clever move of Ballard to hire Suzanne Kasler! Adore her work.
Ballard Designs is brilliant to do this. When I look at these pictures, I think, "I can do this!" I think I will!
ReplyDeleteMs. Kasler is extraordinarily good at explaining what she does. She gives folks like me hope that we can live in great rooms with things we like without rocket science designers. Ms. Kalser is a rocket scientist who makes it seem easy.
ReplyDeleteTerry, you hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am in meetings with Suzanne, I am truly in awe at her talent. When she did the furniture plan for my house, it seemed so effortless - as it was so intuitive to her. She just knew what to do, what pieces to put in certain spaces. Some of it comes from experience, some comes from innate skill, and some just comes purely from intuition. It's hard to explain, but you know it when you see it.
I just got my new catalog yesterday and read it cover to cover. Suzanne's style is so effortless that she makes you feel like it's attainable for anyone. As a designer, I can show this to a client as an example of a look and know that they will get the concept. Loved it and lucky you for getting to spend time with her!
ReplyDeleteThey must be thrilled with the immediate reaction and success they are having by connecting with such an amazing gifted talented classy woman. I got my email from Ballard yesterday and literally squealed when I saw her name and the 1st picture. I couldn't wait to go over to the site to check out all the photos, apparently I wasn't the only one.....too many on at once blocked access at 1st. Just fantastic. Love it!xo
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read it! Thanks for the tip!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading the interview... great advice!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview. I agree that she's excellent at communicating a vision.
ReplyDeleteLove that you did this post, Holly. I just got the catalog yesterday and thought of you - glad you passed the word on to your readers!

I was just looking at the catalog before I went online -- I think this is such a great marketing tool for Ballard, using such high-profile designers, kind of like what 1st Dibs does with its designer interviews/ I love how they pick out their favorite finds from the sight, it gives great insight into their style.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading all of these comments, I realize that I did not receive my Ballard Designs catalog this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link!
ReplyDeleteGoing to check it out now. Thanks so much for posting about it!
ReplyDeleteI have been dying to get the scoop on how it's going with your new house. . . Suzanne is such a talent you are lucky to have her!
