The Brickmaker's Table

A few weeks ago, Brooke of Velvet & Linen started what has become the one of the most sought after 'give aways' in the blogosphere. Mark Sage of Bobo Intriguing Objects offered to give three of his iconic 'brickmaker's tables' to the V&L readers whose spaces were selected, based on pictures submitted to Brooke.

Brooke ended up receiving almost 200 entries, and she asked some of her blog friends (27 in total, me included) to assist in narrowing down the list to 10. It was a difficult task. Many of the rooms were so beautiful as is, and I tended to steer away from these. Other rooms could be profoundly changed or updated with the addition of the table, and I seemed to gravitate to these rooms. Alas, none of my top selections made the top 10 (although many were on my short list) - but that was part of the fascinating experience of the voting. Everyone on the selection committee looked at the pictures with their own ideas, perceptions, and and aesthetics. The top 10 selections are wonderful choices and I loved being a part of the process.

Now, Brooke is asking everyone to weigh in and vote for their favorite room. Please go to Velvet & Linen this week and cast your vote. Email subscribers, click here to go to the vote. I can't wait to see who wins! Good luck to all of the finalists.

  1. I can't thank you enough for all of your support Holly.
I appreciate the level of thought and care you took when making your selections. Of course, I am not surprised. You bring that attention to detail to everything you do.

  5. Funny, we are so similar. I secretly wished for the more "undone" rooms too and voted the only really undone room in the top 10. A lot of these rooms would look perfect with this table, and it would fit right in, but I kinda wanted the table to go to someone where this table can be the star and they can work around it, someone who could really use a great piece like that. Oh well.

  6. me too. I was hoping for rooms (people) that looked like they would really really appreciate it. A lot of the rooms seemed very well done already and I'm sure the homeowners will all be thrilled, but I was wanting a little more down to earth selections. I already voted!

  7. Hey, is it okay to call you by your name yet? I have been keeping my promise to honor your privacy! I just wanted to thank you for your thoughtful comment on my paint dilemma. I am not sure, yet, what I will do. Funny that you mentioned BM white dove as I had just written that color down from reading Suzanne Kasler's book - it is a lovely color that might blend beautifully with my limestone.Have a great Thanksgiving and keep up the fascinating posts - loved the "my favorite architect" post.
