The circle is so full of symbolism...it is a shape found throughout nature; it is an idealization in math; it has spiritual symbolism in most religions; it is the symbol for eternity and perfection as it has no beginning or end.
Because of the beauty of the form of the circle, it is an effective component of design, and one that I love to see in furniture, fabric, and art.

I never saw a thing after the top image. I LOVE that space. The circles have a graphic nature while still remaining classic. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteYes - that Century screen is so beautiful. It actually comes in three parts, so you can group them together or group them separately. Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteI love that MHG has always incorporated loops in to her designs--whether in furniture or sculpture. I am also digging the espresso bead pattern from hableconstruction.com
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely finds here! I have to say that the circle is consistanly a fav of mine. Great post!

I love all of the images you've shown here! Perfect examples of the perfect symbol!
ReplyDeleteI love the Oly Studio screen and the Mariette Himes Gomez chairs. I am going to have to check out Oly's website for new stuff! I do not remember this screen.
ReplyDeleteThe Oly screen is one of my favorites. I thought about using it for a headboard, but it is 80 inches tall so it would be a bit much....too bad! I also think that the Ironies miror and chair are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the curve! I love it in furnishings and in my home, but for my body, I always find that I buy square-shaped jewelry for some reason. Perhaps because I am hourglass-shaped and have enough curves and find I need the structure of a more geometrical shaped ring or pendant. Funny that. At home, I definitely choose organic, rounded shapes for things. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWow, fun stuff here! And looking at the comment above, I found you from my blogging friend Terri from Windlost. So glad I did! I love your blog and will definitely return! Love all the inspirational things you have here.
