I started my blog in July of 2007 as a creative outlet: a place to write and reflect, an online scrapbook, a place to sort and save my favorite pictures that were beginning to overwhelm my laptop (keep in mind, these were the days before the iphone, flickr, and Pinterest!).
Here is my first post:
I have always had a love for art, design, and architecture. I go through periods in which I will obsess on architecture and homes, then I will morph into an obession with furniture and interior design (never fabric, just furniture). Then I will look at Etsy and get obsessed with art again, and take an art class.
I love to research, and can spend hours on the internet tracking down where that piece of furniture in that favorite design magazine came from. I have recently discovered a treasure trove of information on blogs devoted to art and interior design.
Over the past five years, my blog has become so much more than an online scrapbook to me! It has become a place to share and exchange ideas with a community of people who love design, architecture, and art as much as I do. There have been some wonderful moments, and posts that have really made me think in new directions. I have learned so much from my readers, and have developed real friendships with fellow bloggers and readers. My blog has enabled me to really define and refine my own style, and has caused me to see things in a different way.
Several years after I started my blog, my family and I began a wonderful adventure: designing and custom building our dream home. With the leadership of an incredible architect, interior design team, landscape architect, and builder, we spent two years on the house build, much of which is documented on the blog.
Another highlight of the journey has been creating the store that is a companion site to the blog, Quatrefoil Design. The store features unique and beautiful items, primarily art and decorative wall hangings, that make a home more beautiful. Please visit the store here: www.quatrefoildesign.com. I also occasionally help clients with sourcing 'to the trade' items and specific pieces of art, so please contact me if you would like more information on these services.

Thank you for posting your outdoor space, it is fantastic! I love your naturial material selections, english garden and rich architecture. You inspire me to call an architect and build a pool with an outdoor living room plus fireplace. So cozy tonight with a nice Cabernet and candlelight! Enjoy!!
