I have blogged about my love of chandeliers and sconces many times over the years; now that the house build is well underway, and the architectural design is set, we are starting to scout out some of the lighting selections for the new house. Here are a few that are under consideration for the bathrooms (there were more, but these are the ones that stand out in my mind).
Circa Lighting Soleil Semi-flush Pendant (not a sconce, but a great ceiling mount fixture)
It’s interesting seeing all of these together in one post. They are being considered for different areas of the house (and we have not yet discussed decorative sconces for the living room and hallways), but there is certainly a balance of the clean straight lines and sinuous curves. Great selections. Circa Bryant, Circa Tall Lantern and Urban Electric get my vote. Emailing you a link to revisit for some ideas...
ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful, but my favorites are 2,4, and 7. I was unable to see 3.

The Urban Electric Melissa is lovely, simple yet it still has a great presence to it, that would be my selection.
ReplyDeleteWould love your input on my backsplash selection on today's post, if you have time I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

What a conincidence I was searching for 'gold sconce' on ebay today...I didnt find anything as beautiful as the selection you have here. My favourites are the lantern and the french horn...
ReplyDeleteLove the first one from Waterworks! And the lantern too. How I love to pick out lighting. Spent hours deciding what to use in my house. We have no cans on the main level or second floor (cans only in the basement) so I had to pick out a lot of lights - totally fun. I did make a couple of booboos I would change now - but lights are an easy switch. Have fun!
ReplyDeletewow, that semi-flush is incredible!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of the first two sconces and that tall lantern is spectacular. They are all pretty fabulous though!
ReplyDeleteLove the Lantern, the French Horn and the Ruhlmann. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAdore your choices...we have such similar tastes! Love the top three fixtures in this post the most...we have the second Bryant sconce flanking a mirror in a powder room bathroom and I just love the look of those wall mounted lanterns, we have 4 similar interior ones and several outside as well. To me this was the best part of our renovation project (and the easiest!).

ReplyDeleteI have two favourites - Waterworks Blue Note and Wilshire from RH. But they're all beautiful, and I'm sure whichever ones you decide on will look lovely in your new home :-)
ReplyDeleteKelly
I'm voting the Circa Bryant sconce. But we're planning on using them or Shades of Light's very similar sconce. We'll have 4 sconces and the 4 light chandelier in antique brass.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the Whilshire single sconce from RH. Love it!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Definitely the waterworks (first one). Elegant and refined, like you! The simplicity speaks volumes...!

My mind turns to mush when faced with all the lighting choices. I lean toward the old look rather than the shiny look. We have several sets of little shades that we've rotated through the years.
ReplyDeleteurban electric melissa is my fave by far, but i bet the circa bryant will look almost as pretty and be significantly cheaper. i also LOVE (and have used) the circa tall linear lantern- it's a whole different look, though. it's fab in a powder room!
ReplyDeletethey are all pretty- can't wait to see which ones you select! i am almost as excited to see your house come together then i would be to see one of my own projects come to life- the anticipation is killing me!
I love blue note - it looks like 'you'!
ReplyDeleteTough to pick - you have some lovely options here. I would say its between Melissa and Ruhlman. And you must save a spot for Soleil!

ReplyDeleteI have been obsessed with this sconce for years..never gets old. i love your choices, also.
Love the tall lantern. Interesting to me that these are also transitional. Very clean lines. A few posts a go you were wondering about using inswing casements windows to make the architecture more authentically European. I like the idea of clean lines mixed with some of the more rustic materials and European elements you are using. Nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThe Waterworks Bluenote is yummy!
ReplyDeleteI swear, all of your choices have been my choice too at some point, your taste is perfection!
ReplyDelete* Geez, with such beautiful selections, HOW in heaven's name will you DECIDE??? I llike or love every single one EXCEPT that one that looks like a mean ol' choke collar!!! (Grins!)...
ReplyDeleteAs my husband would put it, "Honey, you've got high-class problems!".
HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!

I love the Ruhlmann sconce. Mary
ReplyDeleteLove the Urban Elec. Co options! We just bought an 1850s farmhouse in Griffin that was renovated in the 20s by Ivey & Crook. I am starting to compile ideas for a powder room addition that would be in keeping with character of the house. I think something like this would be great!
ReplyDeleteTall Linear Lantern, the Waterworks Blue Note and Wilshire Single Sconce are my favorites. Good luck with your whole project!
ReplyDeleteJust worked with sconces in my powder room and hallways for the first time. Really like the mix of burnished silver, burlap or linen shades and simple posts. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe lantern is gorgeous! And the Urban electric are so simple but glam at the same time. I also like the oil rubbed bronze sconce. When we moved into our home 5 years ago, it had all builder-finish crappy fixtures and I changed every last fixture to oil rubbed bronze along with the door hardware throughout. I'll never tire of oil rubbed bronze. It's warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love the Circa Lighting Soleil ceiling mount fixture! So interesting and unique! What a group of wonderful choices!
ReplyDeletehmm...that semi flush pendant looks like it could murder you.
ReplyDeletei likee the first one and the french deco horn sconce.
I thought of you when I first saw the Waterworks Blue Note.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and elegant!
xo

I like the first three, which includes the lantern. And, I also like the pendant light. All beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the Melissa sconce from Urban Electric as well as the Wilshire Single Sconce from Restoration Hardware...if we're voting. :-)
ReplyDeleteKaren
All amazing options! I think my favorite has got to be the Melissa sconce from urban electric.
ReplyDeleteI used the bryant sconce in polished nickel and love them! but, my all time favs are at julieneill.com ( new orleans designer ) elegant and amazing chandeliers! enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Melissa from UE, The Ruhlman+The deco from Circa! And I think they all compliment each other very well––great choices :)
ReplyDeleteCirca Lighting Bryant is my favorite---timeless but very today.
ReplyDeleteBuilder here
enjoy your blog!

I love the Urban Electric Co. sconces the most. You have some lovely choices though.
ReplyDeleteI adore the Waterworks blue note and Urban electric.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun project to have!
xx
The Deco from circa is my favorite. Lighting can be so hard to figure out. There are so many nice choices now, compared to years ago.
ReplyDeleteNice post.

Oh... I adore the linear lantern!!
ReplyDeletei love the melissa i have them in my dining room- they don't give off much light so keep that in mind for a bath. had the wilshire sconce in my guest bath in my old house- it was very pretty. now renovating a new house and have chosen the ruhlman for my powder room! have fun lighting is my favorite task.
ReplyDeleteThe Blue Note from Waterworks is just gorgeous... so simple and timeless. I saw it in this month's AD too. It get's my vote, but the one's from Circa are fab too.
ReplyDeletexo,

Really enjoyed your blog with photos of rooms on lighting issues. I have never been a fan of can lights - not only don't they look good, but the lighting is much different than a light fixure provides. For me, can lights are acceptable in moderation in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways and for highlighting art. Sconces, chandeliers and lamps provide much better light and there is such a huge selection on the market today. Unfortunately, many times little attention is given to lighting, and plug outlets when people build a home.
ReplyDeleteBack to your selection - I like the French Horn and the Blue Note. Can't wait to see your finished product some day.
New to your blog...love everything. Gorgeous - with substance!
