Perhaps I hold a slight bias as a graduate of the same art school, but I can remember walking by his portraits hanging in a gallery on North Highland when we ate at Partners growing up. Whether Steve paints Einstein, Reagan or REM, his work abounds with personality through his use of line work and color. While I could wax poetic on Mr. Penley for quite a bit, I also love the work of Mark Boomershine. I might add in all frankness that the show all in all is a decent mix of fine art as well as decorator art, something for the serious collector and something for those who like to have fun with a splash of color.
